What a pity to hear the Red Castle Motel has gone so far down hill. I was there 12 years or so ago for a conference at the Burswood and although the motel was not modern even at that time .. i really enjoyed it. The room sizes were great and very comfortable. The restaurant was up, working and revolving (not revolting) and served great food. The pool with its frangipanis was a delight to use in the early evening.. it is situated in a great spot... such a pity someone does not give it a make over ..rather than letting it get swallowed up as real estate for units etc.

A well rounded trip. I highly recommend coming back in spring September and October as the wild flowers in the region are stunning and you can have your own guided tour at Mammoth Cave just as you did for the cave. The whales are now breeding and migrating past Cape Leeuwin light house so you could have some amazing sightings other than the lighthouse now. Thanks for sharing and we look forward to you visiting again.

I found the Thumbnail For Excerpts (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/thumbnail-for-excerpts/) plugin that looked like it would do what you want.

Since I have admin access, it is now installed and appears to be doing what you wanted. However only on the homepage as that seems to be the only page in this theme that actually shows the excerpt.

I see, but wouldn't that only work when there are images attached to the post?

It could be done in one of three ways: a theme that supports it already, a plugin that adds the thumbnail to the summary, or modifying the theme.
